Newham Council Elects New Leadership at ACM 2025: Cllr Rohit Das Gupta Appointed Chair, Cllr Zulfiqar Ali Becomes Deputy Mayor
Newham, London, (TW News) — The Annual Council Meeting (ACM) 2025 of the London Borough of Newham was held on 8th May 2025, marking a significant evening of democratic proceedings, leadership transitions, and community celebration. The meeting witnessed the election of key positions including the Chair, Deputy Mayor, Deputy Chair, and other official roles, alongside important administrative agreements for the coming year.
Cllr Rohit Das Gupta was elected as the new Chair of Newham Council, while Cllr Imam ul Haq was appointed Deputy Chair. In a proud moment for the local community, Cllr Zulfiqar Ali was elected as the Deputy Mayor of Newham, reflecting his consistent dedication to public service and community engagement.

Community leader Junaid Ali BEM extended warm congratulations to the newly elected office bearers, particularly praising Cllr Zulfiqar Ali and Cllr Rohit Das Gupta for their ongoing comitment to the borough. In return, Cllr Zulfiqar expressed gratitude to Junaid for his kind words and support.
