KIIR chief thanks UN experts for their meticulously documented communication exposing harsh reality faced by Kashmiris

Islamabad, (TW News) __ Chairman Kashmir Institute of International Relations Altaf Hussain Wani has extended his heartfelt gratitude to the United Nations human rights experts for their bold and unwavering scrutiny of the systemic violations of human rights, state repression, and the unlawful demolition of civilian properties in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued here today, the KIIR chairman appreciated the UN special rapporteurs, especially Prof. Ben Saul UN Special rapporteur on protection on human rights while countering terrorism , for imitating the communication and other Mandate holders for their meticulously documented communication, which pierces the veil of official denial and exposes the harsh reality faced by Kashmiris under oppressive policies.

“At a time when truth is suppressed and the voices of the oppressed are silenced, the experts’ principled intervention is a beacon of accountability and justice”, Wani remarked.

The joint communique, he said, affirms that no state can cloak abuses under the guise of security, and that the dignity, rights, and freedoms of every human being are inviolable.

“The UN experts work sends a clear message that impunity is unacceptable, and the world is watching”, Wani added.

The experts, he said, rightly emphasize that brutal and discriminatory tactics do not eliminate extremism; instead, they deepen grievances and erode the trust essential for lasting security.

The KIIR chief maintained that experts’ observations were not adversarial; they represent the fundamental demands of justice: disclose the lists of those detained, clarify the legal bases for demolitions, and investigate unlawful killings.

He said that it was high time that the Indian government must heed to the UN mandate holders’ clarion call for independent inquiries, accountability for perpetrators, and a security policy aligned with the principles of justice.
