Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – A fundraising and networking event held in the European capital Brussels successfully raised 2 million Pakistani rupees for the construction and expansion efforts of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. The announcement was made during the event organized through the efforts of social figure Sardar Siddiq Khan.

The special guest at the event was renowned Pakistani actress Reema Khan, while Dr. Aamir Rahman Farooqi represented Shaukat Khanum Hospital and delivered a detailed presentation. Through various slides, he highlighted the overall performance of the Shaukat Khanum Foundation, the services being provided to cancer patients across its facilities, healthcare standards, and the new requirements for the construction of Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Reema Khan said that Shaukat Khanum Hospital does not belong to any political party but to the people of Pakistan. She urged Pakistanis to remove bitterness from their hearts and focus on serving humanity.

She remarked that in a time when it has become difficult for people to remain happy themselves, bringing hope and the joy of life to faces moving toward death is an even greater mission. Reema Khan also advised Pakistanis to rise above differences, respect one another, and refrain from abusive language and negativity.

Earlier, former member of the Brussels Parliament Dr. Manzoor Zahoor, who donated one million rupees for the hospital, spoke about the causes of cancer, including genetics, environmental factors, and unhealthy food habits. He stressed the importance of protecting and maintaining the blessing of good health through responsible living.

Dr. Ali Shirazi stated that approximately 180,000 cancer cases are reported annually in Pakistan — the highest number in Asia. He noted that in most cases, the disease is diagnosed after it has already entered the third stage. Calling charity a social responsibility, he appealed to the community to actively support humanitarian causes.

Prominent young businessman Shakeel Gohar, Chairman of Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed, Sardar Siddiq Khan, and social personality Tajammal Cheema described the establishment of Shaukat Khanum Hospital by Imran Khan as a valuable gift for the people of Pakistan. Speakers said that building a hospital is a great achievement, but sustaining it with the support of the nation is an even bigger responsibility.

The participants also thanked Reema Khan, the management of Shaukat Khanum Hospital, and all those individuals who dedicate their time and efforts to encouraging humanitarian service among overseas Pakistanis.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Syed Hasnaat Ahmed Bukhari, while Chaudhry Imran Saqib performed the duties of host and stage secretary.
