Brussels, (Unib Rashid) — The Left Group in the European Parliament has called on the European Union to take immediate action against Israel over its interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla.

According to a statement issued by the group, Israeli forces allegedly attacked a convoy of boats carrying human rights activists who were raising their voices in support of Palestine. The incident reportedly took place approximately 1,000 kilometers from Gaza, within Greece’s search and rescue zone.

The group further stated that the European Union and its member states must take action against what it described as “state-sponsored piracy” at sea.
