BRUSSELS, (Unib Rashid) — E-commerce sales across Europe reached €911 billion in 2025, reflecting continued growth in online shopping across the continent, according to an annual report jointly published by two major European trade organisations, Ecommerce Europe and EuroCommerce.
The report said e-commerce sales grew by 7 percent last year, while the inflation-adjusted growth rate across Europe stood at 4 percent in 2025. The figures cover 38 countries, including European Union member states as well as Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
According to Ecommerce Europe and EuroCommerce, online shopping is expected to remain an attractive option for consumers in the coming years. The organisations forecast that e-commerce sales across Europe will surpass €961 billion this year.
The report further estimates that more than three-quarters of Europe’s population, or 77 percent, will purchase goods or services online in 2026, highlighting the continuing expansion of the continent’s digital consumer market.
Belgium also recorded a strong level of online business activity. According to the report, 94 percent of companies in Belgium sold products or services online through their websites or apps in 2025, while 31 percent conducted online sales through e-commerce platforms.
The figures underline the growing importance of digital commerce for European businesses and consumers, with online sales continuing to play an increasingly significant role in the continent’s retail and commercial landscape.
