Chair of KC-EU Ali Raza Syed meets Foreign Secretary Asad Majeed

Brussels . January 18, 2023(Tarkeen E Watan) : Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) Ali Raza Syed talked to Pakistan’s new Foreign Secretary Dr. Asad Majeed Khan. The conversation took place during the farewell ceremony in honour of Ambassador Asad Majeed yesterday. Asad Majeed was previously Pakistan’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg before assuming the charge of Foreign Secretary and the Pakistani community based in Belgium organized a function in his honour in Brussels.

During the talks with Ali Raza Syed, the new Foreign Secretary appreciated the efforts of Kashmir Council EU in highlighting the Kashmir issue in Europe and hoped that these efforts will continue with a new dimension.

Chairman Kashmir Council EU praised Foreign Secretary Dr. Asad Majeed’s diplomatic efforts in improving Pakistan-EU relations and highlighting the Kashmir issue and said that we wish him all the best for his new responsibilities. It should be noted that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs is on a visit to Belgium after assuming office of the foreign secretary.

Ali Raza Syed presented a shield to Ambassador Asad Majeed for acknowledging his services about Pakistan-EU relations and Pakistani and Kashmiri communities based in Europe.

During the farewell ceremony, the Pakistani and Kashmiri community applauded the outgoing Ambassador Asad Majeed for his diplomatic efforts and hoped that he would perform his new official duties well and improve Pakistan’s relations with other countries. He will play their effective role, the community representatives said.

The event was held at a local restaurant and was attended by important personalities from the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities.

The community members especially thanked Dr. Khan for taking various initiatives during his short diplomatic tenure in Belgium.

It may be recalled that during his diplomatic service of less than a year in Brussels, Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan took several steps to diversify Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Belgium and Luxembourg and for effective multilateral diplomacy with the European Union. He was also remain engaged with the Pakistani community with a commitment to solving their problems.
