Amnesty International Urges Europeans to Pressure Leaders to Suspend EU-Israel Trade Agreement.

Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – Amnesty International has called on European citizens to put pressure on their leadership to suspend the trade agreement between the European Union and Israel.

The appeal was issued by Amnesty’s European office, urging citizens across Europe to take action ahead of a potentially decisive moment on April 21. On that date, a key meeting of the “Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution” is scheduled to take place in Brussels, where the issue of the EU-Israel trade agreement could come under focus.

Amnesty informed the public that the leaders of Germany and Italy are expected to play a critical role in influencing the outcome. It urged citizens to email their leaders and demand the suspension of the agreement.

The organization further alleged that Israel is committing serious violations of international law against Palestinians and raised concerns over its policies beyond its borders. Amnesty stressed that as Israel’s largest trading partner, the European Union has both the influence and responsibility to take concrete action.

In its appeal, Amnesty also encouraged people to contact Giorgia Meloni and Friedrich Merz, urging them to stop what it described as enabling policies related to alleged genocide, illegal occupation, and apartheid.
