VIENNA : Railway employees across Austria went on strike tomorrow. Railway trains have not run across Austria since tomorrow Monday. Wage negotiations for nearly 50,000 railway employees have failed.
The employees demanded an additional 400 euros on top of their monthly salaries, stopping around 5,000 trains across Austria for 24 hours. The government recently offered an 8.44 percent wage increase. But the union rejected it on Sunday.
Now, from Sunday evening to Tuesday morning, trains on Night jet and Euro night connections may be cancelled. Railways will announce details of restrictions, delays and cancellations through OBB social media channels and Scooty timetable information.
