EU Appoints Raimundas Karoblis as New Ambassador to Pakistan, Replacing Dr. Riina Kionka

Brussels, (Hafiz Unib Rashid) — European Union foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas has appointed Raimundas Karoblis as the new EU Ambassador to Pakistan. He will replace Dr. Riina Kionka.

Karoblis, 57, hails from Lithuania, where he served as the country’s Minister of Defence from 2016 to December 2020. He is currently the EU Ambassador to Tajikistan.

According to a statement by the European External Action Service (EEAS), the EU foreign affairs chief has also announced the appointment of five senior managers, 36 new ambassadors in different countries, and two deputy heads of EU delegations.

The EEAS statement highlighted that the EU’s 145 delegations worldwide represent the face of the Union abroad and serve as the frontline in promoting and safeguarding EU interests. These delegations report on, implement, and project the Union’s priorities, as well as its foreign and security policy.
