LAHORE, (TW NEWS) – His Excellency Faisal Butt, Ambassador-at-Large of the Republic of Liberland to Pakistan and Nepal, has issued a formal statement of condolence following the devastating flash floods along the Nepal-China border. The disaster, which struck on Wednesday, has now claimed at least 588 lives in Nepal, with over 1,400 individuals still reported missing across the Himalayan region.

In his statement, Ambassador Butt expressed serious concern over the widespread destruction of critical border infrastructure, the isolation of remote mountain communities, and the continued threat posed by a secondary glacial lake containing an estimated 3 million cubic meters of water. Nepali authorities have confirmed that this unstable lake has burst once again, leading to a temporary halt in rescue operations within the core disaster zone.

“The catastrophic flash floods along the Nepal-China border have brought unimaginable hardship to the people of Nepal,” Ambassador Butt stated. “To the families grieving the loss of loved ones, to those still waiting for news of the missing, and to the survivors who have lost their homes and livelihoods, I offer my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.”

The Ambassador also praised the bravery and dedication of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police, who have deployed more than 9,000 personnel in extremely hazardous conditions. He issued a strong appeal to the international community to step forward with urgent humanitarian support.

“We cannot stand by while our Nepali brothers and sisters endure such suffering,” he said. “I call upon the global community, international financial institutions, and neighboring nations to act swiftly. Immediate needs emergency shelter, clean drinking water, medical aid, and helicopter support for remote rescues must be met without delay or bureaucratic obstacles.”

“To the Government of Nepal, the courageous rescue teams, and the resilient people of this great nation, Liberland stands in solidarity with you. May the Almighty grant strength to the living, comfort to the grieving, and eternal peace to the departed.”

Rescue and relief efforts continue, with all personnel on heightened alert due to the ongoing risk of further flooding from the unstable glacial lake.
