EU Approves Ban on AI Systems Generating Explicit Images Without Consent.

Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ The European Union has approved a ban on artificial intelligence systems capable of generating sexually explicit images of individuals without their consent. The decision comes in the wake of controversy surrounding the AI system Grok, which reportedly generated explicit images of millions of people.

According to details, ambassadors of EU member states reached an agreement on the proposed ban during a meeting held recently. The measure targets AI systems that can create sexually explicit images of individuals without their permission.

A spokesperson for the Cypriot presidency of the Council of the European Union said the proposal was prompted by a controversy that emerged earlier this year involving Grok, the AI assistant linked to the social media platform X owned by Elon Musk. Users had claimed that the chatbot produced millions of explicit images of real people without their consent, including minors.

Following global outrage over the issue, X announced in January that it maintains a “zero tolerance” policy toward the sexual exploitation of children and women and introduced measures which, according to the platform, would eliminate the creation of such images.

However, according to Reuters, the clothing-removal feature is reportedly still available on Grok’s website. The European Commission launched an investigation into the AI assistant at the end of January.
