Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ The European Union has launched a new call for proposals aimed at strengthening civil society initiatives in Pakistan, with a particular focus on promoting freedom of expression and media freedom.

Under reference EuropeAid/186121/DD/ACT/PK, the call invites civil society organizations to submit concept notes for projects that support independent journalism, protect journalists’ rights, enhance access to information, and foster an enabling environment for free and pluralistic media.

The initiative forms part of the EU’s broader commitment to democratic governance, human rights, and the rule of law. By supporting local organizations and media actors, the EU aims to encourage open dialogue, strengthen accountability, and promote inclusive public discourse across Pakistan.

Interested applicants must submit their concept notes no later than 21 April 2026 at 15:00 (Brussels time).
