Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ The seventh round of the Pakistan–European Union Strategic Dialogue was held in Brussels, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
The Pakistani delegation included Foreign Secretary Aamir Baloch, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the EU, Belgium and Luxembourg Rahim Hayat Qureshi, along with senior officials of the embassy.
Both sides conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing cooperation under the 2019 Strategic Engagement Plan, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening collaboration in key areas of mutual strategic interest.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of the GSP+ scheme for Pakistan and appreciated the EU’s continued support. He also acknowledged EU assistance in the areas of democracy, governance, rule of law, energy, trade, investment and human rights.
The two sides discussed regional and global security in detail. Speaking on the situation in South Asia, Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s emphasis on dialogue, diplomacy, adherence to international law and respect for agreements.
He stressed the importance of a peaceful and stable relationship with Afghanistan based on mutual interest and reaffirmed expectations that the Afghan interim authorities take responsible action against terrorism.
Presenting Pakistan’s stance on global conflicts, he emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only sustainable path to resolving disputes.

The discussion also covered Pakistan’s constructive role at the United Nations and other international forums, as well as Pakistan’s efforts to enhance regional connectivity and integration with Central Asia.
The EU side acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent and serious efforts in combating terrorism and its contribution to regional and global peace. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting diplomacy, multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
According to diplomatic sources, the Strategic Dialogue has opened new avenues for reviewing bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in multiple sectors.
