Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has stated that violence and the loss of human lives in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are deeply regrettable and condemnable, and that the current situation should be resolved through peaceful means.

In a statement, he expressed deep concern over the recent unfortunate incidents that have occurred in various parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Mirpur, Rawlakot and other areas, he particularly condemned martyrdoms in these tragic episodes.

Ali Raza Syed said that, according to reports, these incidents have resulted in the tragic loss of precious human lives and injuries to a number of people. Such developments are deeply distressing and a matter of serious concern. He emphasized that the protection of human life is one of the fundamental responsibilities of every civilized society and state, and that violence is never a solution to any problem.

The Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU further stated that, in any country or state, a government should act like a caring guardian, listening to the concerns of its people with patience, tolerance, and understanding, while making sincere efforts to resolve their grievances.

He added that the use of violence cannot produce positive outcomes; rather, it is likely to further complicate the situation. Dialogue, mutual understanding, and negotiations remain the only effective and constructive path toward resolving differences peacefully.

He said, the Kashmir Council EU extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a speedy recovery to those who have been injured. We call upon the relevant authorities to ensure a transparent, impartial, and lawful investigation into the reported incidents, establish the facts, determine accountability where appropriate, and take necessary measures to restore public confidence.

He says that KCEU believes that public concerns and legitimate grievances should be heard with sincerity and addressed through constructive dialogue, democratic engagement, and constitutional means. Restraint should be exercised by all parties, and unnecessary use of force and violence should be avoided, as such measures risk deepening tensions rather than resolving them.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir occupies a uniquely sensitive position in the broader context of the Kashmir issue and has long held symbolic and political significance for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Azad Kashmir have made important contributions to the Kashmir cause over many decades. In the present circumstances, wisdom, restraint, and responsible leadership are essential to ensure that no development undermines the Kashmir cause or creates opportunities for those seeking to exploit instability to the detriment of interests of the people of Kashmir and Pakistan.

The Kashmir Council EU calls upon all political stakeholders in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the relevant state institutions, civil society, and the political leadership of Pakistan to work sincerely toward a peaceful, political, and constitutional resolution of the current situation. Respect for the rule of law, protection of fundamental rights, and meaningful engagement with the public are indispensable for maintaining peace, stability, and public trust.
