Vienna, (Muhammad Amir Siddique) – The 35th session was chaired by Ambassador Rüdiger Bohn, Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations in Vienna and was opened by the Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Monica Juma, and other high-level speakers.The 35th session held on 1 to 5 June in Vienna, Austria.

The 35th session brought together participants from Member States, UN entities, inter-governmental organizations and civil society in Vienna. His Excellency Ambassador of Pakistan Mohammad Kamran Akhter Remarke articulated Pakistan’s concerns over an increasingly complex global crime landscape, and called for more effective and stronger international action against criminal networks.

He also noted mutually reinforcing linkage between advancing SDGs & effective crime prevention, reaffirmed commitment to 2030 Agenda. Expressed concern over global crime trends.Renewed Pakistan’s commitment to implementation of UNTOC, UNCAC & international counter terrorism instruments.

His Excellency Ambassador raised Pakistan’s continued concerns over Islamophobia, racism & hate crimes, and emphasized the need for effective & credible criminal justice responses against these dangerous trends. The Ambassador also welcomed the upcoming 15th UN Crime Congress to be held in UAE & expressed hope for a constructive outcome to advance shared pursuit of peace, justice and rule of law.
