Sovereignty Non Negotiable : The lessons from operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos.

The strategic landscape of South Asia has long been defined by a precarious balance of power. For Pakistan, the struggle has consistently been one of securing sovereignty and progress in the face of persistent regional pressures. Central to this tension remains the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), where the natural right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination continues to be suppressed through military intervention and a narrative that lacks legal standing under United Nations resolutions.

The cycle of hostility reached a critical juncture in 2025. Following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, India once again adopted a pattern of baseless accusations, branding the incident a “terrorist attack” and pointing fingers at Pakistan without producing credible evidence. Despite Pakistan’s consistent denials and calls for diplomacy, India escalated the situation on May 7, 2025, by launching multiple airstrikes across Pakistani territory. These strikes targeted civilian areas and mosques in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, and Shakargarh, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives.

This aggression was timed to exploit Pakistan’s internal vulnerabilities. Since 2022, the nation has navigated a complex landscape of political polarization, economic instability, and the persistent threat of militancy from outfits such as the TTP, BLA, and others, all while recovering from devastating floods. However, India miscalculated. Rather than fracturing the state, this external aggression served as a catalyst for national cohesion.

In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos. This operation was not merely a military retaliation but a demonstration of national resilience. The three pillars of the state—the people, the government, and the military—unified to resist aggression, embodying the spirit of the Quranic verse: “Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a solid structure firmly joined together (Bunyan-ul-Marsoos)” (Surah As-Saff 61:4).

The operation showcased Pakistan’s evolved military capabilities and its commitment to a sophisticated, multi-domain defense strategy. Under the leadership of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the Army, Navy, and Air Force operated in seamless tri-service coordination. Utilizing network-centric warfare and real-time intelligence, Pakistan established absolute air and space dominance, ensuring that its response was precise and devastating.

Twenty-six strategic military targets were neutralized, including airbases, command centers, logistics hubs, and intelligence facilities—most notably the BrahMos storage sites at Beas. By integrating advanced electronic warfare and precision-guided munitions, Pakistan proved that its deterrent capability is not only credible but technologically superior in the face of provocation.

The success of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos sends a clear message to the international community: Pakistan possesses a disciplined, responsible, and highly capable military leadership. Despite the internal challenges the country faces, its resolve to protect its territorial integrity remains unshakable.

Pakistan’s true strength lies in the synergy between its faith, its disciplined military, and a resilient population. Through this operation, Pakistan has reaffirmed that any attempt to undermine its sovereignty will be met with a proportionate and decisive response, ensuring peace through strength and unity.
