London, (Shahzad Ali) – A reception was held in Luton to honour Mr. Farhat Mir, a former senior bureaucrat from Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The esteemed event was hosted by community leader Lala Chaudhry Muhammad Taj Samroor.
The ceremony saw the special attendance of prominent figures, including Raja Waheed Akbar, the former Mayor of Luton, who graced the occasion as a chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Farhat Mir commended the pivotal role played by the Kashmiri community in robustly raising the Kashmir issue at diplomatic levels on international platforms. He emphasized that the people of Kashmir must continue their struggle for the right to self-determination “at all costs.”
The event also served as a platform to acknowledge Mr. Mir’s own significant contributions and service at various tiers of government during his tenure in Azad Kashmir.
Furthermore, appreciation was extended to Raja Waheed Akbar for his instrumental role in advocating for and strengthening the identity and representation of the Kashmiri community within the Luton Council.
