Protest in London Today to Commemorate the Situation in Kashmir, Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban

Luton, (Special Correspondent) — Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban, Coordinator of the Kashmir Solidarity Campaign Luton, emphasized that October 27 represents a significant moment in the history of the Kashmiri nation. On this day in 1947, Indian forces entered the State of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the beginning of a prolonged conflict.

In a statement issued for this occasion, Haji Qurban expressed that this action raised serious concerns regarding international law and human rights, as it did not reflect the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He noted that the impacts of this situation continue to resonate throughout every village, town, and heart in Kashmir.

He pointed out that the Kashmiri community observes October 27 as Black Day each year as a reminder of their enduring struggle and to raise awareness of the challenges they face. Haji Qurban mentioned that members of the Kashmir Solidarity Campaign Luton, along with supporters from the wider community, will travel to London for a peaceful demonstration outside the Indian High Commission.

Speaking to the media ahead of the event, he affirmed that the protest would be conducted peacefully yet resolutely. “We aim to convey a clear message to the global community that the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their pursuit of self-determination,” he noted. He further highlighted concerns regarding ongoing issues such as extrajudicial actions, media restrictions, and significant human rights violations, which he believes warrant the attention of the United Nations and the international conscience.

Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban appealed to the British government and the international community to advocate for the restoration of human rights in the region and to support the implementation of the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He concluded by affirming that the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people will not be forgotten, and their quest for freedom will persist until they are granted the opportunity to determine their own future in alignment with United Nations resolutions.
