Brussels, (Unib Rahid) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday received a telephone call from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, during which both leaders held a warm and constructive discussion on regional developments and bilateral cooperation.
The two prime ministers exchanged views on the recently held Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran, which were hosted by Pakistan as part of efforts to ease tensions in the region.
Prime Minister Takaichi commended Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic role in facilitating the ceasefire and dialogue, underscoring Japan’s full support for the peace process. She emphasized that sustained stability is vital not only for the region but also for global energy security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Japanese leadership for its support and goodwill. He also appreciated the constructive engagement of both the U.S. and Iranian delegations in Islamabad, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring that the ceasefire holds and dialogue continues.
Highlighting the importance of longstanding ties, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s desire to further deepen cooperation with Japan across multiple sectors. Prime Minister Takaichi reciprocated the sentiment, reaffirming Japan’s interest in expanding bilateral engagement.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and coordination on regional and international matters of mutual interest.
