Islamabad.Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received a high-profile state welcome during his visit to Pakistan, with observers comparing the reception to the grand ceremony accorded to Chinese President Xi Jinping during his landmark state visit in 2015.
The ceremonial welcome underscored the significance Islamabad attaches to its relationship with Tehran and reflected the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across political, economic, security, and regional cooperation.
President Pezeshkian was received with full state honours, including an official guard of honour, meetings with Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership, and high-level bilateral talks aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, energy, border security, and regional connectivity.

Analysts noted that the scale and symbolism of the reception were reminiscent of the historic welcome extended to President Xi during his April 2015 visit, when Pakistan and China elevated their strategic partnership through a series of landmark agreements, including the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
President Pezeshkian’s visit is expected to further deepen Pakistan-Iran relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to enhancing economic cooperation, promoting regional stability, and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Officials from both countries described the visit as a significant step toward strengthening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Iran and advancing their shared vision for regional peace and prosperity.
