HANGZHOU/BRUSSELS, (Unib Rashid) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, currently on an official visit to China, held a series of high-level meetings with senior executives of leading Chinese companies in Hangzhou on Saturday, aiming to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and attract greater investment into Pakistan.
As part of his engagement with China’s corporate sector, the Prime Minister met representatives from CATL, StarCharge, Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group, and Sheng Huo Neng Yuan Ke Ji Company.
During his meeting with Agnes Siu, CEO of Sheng Huo Neng Yuan Ke Ji Company, discussions focused on cooperation in the renewable energy sector. The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s rapidly emerging renewable energy market and the government’s policy initiatives aimed at facilitating investment, particularly in solar power projects.
In a separate meeting, Shehbaz Sharif met Executive President of CATL, Mr. Oscar Luo. The discussions centered on collaboration in advanced battery technology, energy storage systems, and solar-linked energy solutions to support Pakistan’s clean energy transition.
The Prime Minister also held talks with Ms. Danwei Shao, Chairwoman of StarCharge. The meeting focused on electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the development of smart mobility systems in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Mr. Xin Yuan, President of Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group, called on the Prime Minister to discuss pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare cooperation, and investment opportunities in Pakistan’s expanding medical sector.
The meetings also covered prospects for increasing Chinese investment, establishing new manufacturing facilities, and expanding existing operations in Pakistan.
Highlighting the government’s business-friendly policies, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the reforms introduced to improve ease of doing business and attract foreign investment. He emphasized the importance of stronger business-to-business cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies to further deepen the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries.
