Brussels/Islamabad, (Unib Rashid) – President of Pakistan has reaffirmed the country’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), pledging continued moral, political, and diplomatic support for their right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

In his message on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, the President said the day is observed to express Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to pay tribute to their courage, resilience, and commitment to their just struggle for the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.

Referring to India’s actions of August 5, 2019, the President said that seven years have passed since the unilateral measures aimed at altering the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. He maintained that these actions, taken in violation of international law and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, have neither changed the legal status of the territory nor weakened the resolve of the Kashmiri people.

The President noted that millions of Kashmiris have continued to live under severe restrictions affecting every aspect of daily life over the past seven years. He said families have endured prolonged uncertainty, young people have faced limited opportunities, and entire communities have borne the burden of continued conflict and instability. Despite these challenges, he added, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have remained steadfast in their pursuit of justice and their legitimate right to determine their own future.

Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding position, the President said the country will continue to raise the Kashmir issue at every international forum until the dispute is resolved peacefully in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

He stressed that lasting peace and stability in South Asia are closely linked to the peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to play its role in addressing the human rights situation in IIOJK and facilitating a just and durable resolution of the longstanding dispute.

Addressing the people of Jammu and Kashmir directly, the President assured them that Pakistan stands firmly beside them and will continue to support their legitimate struggle until the realization of their right to self-determination.

Concluding his message, the President prayed for the strength, patience, and steadfastness of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and expressed hope that they would be blessed with justice and lasting peace.
