Brussels/Islamabad, (Unib Rashid) – Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North) Major General Rao Imran Sartaj chaired an important grand jirga with tribal elders, local leaders and government and security officials from Upper Dir and Lower Dir to review the prevailing law and order situation and discuss a coordinated strategy for sustainable peace in the region.
The jirga was held in the traditional tribal manner, with Major General Rao Imran Sartaj, senior officials and tribal elders sitting together on the floor and engaging in direct face-to-face discussions and consultations on the security situation and challenges confronting the two districts. The traditional setting reflected the importance attached to dialogue, mutual consultation and community participation in resolving local issues.
The jirga was attended by Commissioner Malakand Division, Regional Police Officer Malakand, Commandant Dir Scouts, Deputy Commissioners of Upper and Lower Dir, District Police Officers of both districts, along with a large number of tribal elders and local leaders.

During the jirga, participants held detailed discussions on the prevailing law and order situation in Upper and Lower Dir and deliberated on a joint and coordinated course of action to strengthen peace and stability in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Rao Imran Sartaj said that ensuring sustainable peace and stability and protecting the lives and property of the people of Upper and Lower Dir was a collective responsibility of the government, security forces, police and the public.
He emphasized that unity and close cooperation between the security forces and the local population would help thwart the designs of elements seeking to disrupt peace, including Khawarij.
Major General Rao Imran Sartaj urged the people and tribal elders of Dir to further strengthen their cooperation with the security forces and law-enforcement agencies and play their full role in maintaining peace and order.
The tribal elders and local leaders assured the government, police and security forces of their unconditional cooperation. They also reiterated their resolve to support the security institutions through lawful community-based initiatives and mutual cooperation at the local level to improve the law and order situation, particularly in sensitive areas.
The participants reaffirmed their collective commitment to peace, stability and development in both districts.
The jirga concluded with special prayers for lasting peace in Upper and Lower Dir, prosperity for the people, continued development and a bright future for the region.
