Brussels, (Unib Rashid) — President of the European Council, António Costa, spoke with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif today to discuss ongoing Iran–United States negotiations and expressed goodwill for Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace.
In a statement, António Costa said he was pleased to speak with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “I sincerely thanked Pakistan for its tireless efforts and extended my best wishes for the crucial period ahead,” he noted.

The world is closely watching the upcoming round of talks between the United States and Iran, which are expected to be held in Islamabad at the earliest opportunity. There is hope that an agreement will be reached to end the conflict and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The European Union has reaffirmed its support for all ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the Middle East.
