Brussels, (Unib Rashid) — The European Union has awarded €705 million in Starting Grants to 421 early-career researchers as part of its efforts to attract and support leading scientific talent in Europe.

The grants, awarded by the European Research Council (ERC), will enable researchers at an early stage of their careers to pursue ambitious research projects, establish their own teams and develop innovative ideas across a range of scientific disciplines.

The European Commission said the funding reflects Europe’s commitment to creating an environment where talented researchers can develop their careers and contribute to the future of science and innovation.

The Commission said Europe continues to attract and foster top scientific talent, with the ERC Starting Grants providing promising researchers with the resources and independence needed to undertake high-risk, high-impact research.

The €705 million funding package is expected to support the development of new research teams and strengthen Europe’s position as a global centre for scientific excellence and innovation.
