Brussels/Karachi,(Unib Rashid) – Chairman, Board of Directors, Korangi Fish Harbour Authority, Asim Abrar, has hailed Pakistan’s achievement of US$568 million in seafood exports during FY 2025–26 as a historic milestone for the country’s fisheries sector.
In his statement, Asim Abrar said:
“The record seafood exports of US$568 million reflect the resilience, dedication, and hard work of our fishermen, exporters, processors, and all stakeholders associated with Pakistan’s fisheries industry. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the Marine Fisheries Department, and the entire seafood value chain for this remarkable achievement.”
He stated that the milestone demonstrates the growing international confidence in Pakistan’s seafood products and highlights the country’s vast untapped potential in the blue economy.
“The Korangi Fish Harbour Authority is committed to transforming our fisheries infrastructure into a modern, hygienic, and internationally compliant system. Upgrading fish harbours, improving cold chain facilities, ensuring sustainable fishing practices, and promoting value-added seafood exports are essential to maintaining this positive momentum.”
Asim Abrar emphasized that Pakistan must now build upon this achievement by expanding into new export markets, encouraging investment in modern processing facilities, and strengthening collaboration between the government and the private sector.
“This achievement should serve as a foundation for even greater success. With continued reforms, infrastructure development, and a shared commitment from all stakeholders, I am confident that Pakistan’s seafood exports can cross the US$1 billion mark in the coming years.”
He reaffirmed the Korangi Fish Harbour Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance export competitiveness, improve the livelihoods of fishing communities, and position Pakistan as a leading global supplier of high-quality seafood.
