UN Geneva Office Urges World to ‘Revive Spirit of San Francisco’ Ahead of Organization’s 80th Anniversary.

Brussels, (Hafiz Unib Rashid) – The United Nations Office in Geneva has reminded the world that the UN Charter is alive—not only in history books, but also through the institutions, treaties, and cooperation it has made possible to this day.

This reminder was issued in a message marking the organization’s upcoming 80th anniversary. The message stated that it is time to “revive the spirit of San Francisco” and once again choose cooperation, dialogue, and unity.

It should be noted that four months after the conclusion of the San Francisco Conference, the United Nations was officially founded on 24 October 1945, when China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and a majority of other signatories ratified its Charter.
The 80th anniversary of the United Nations will be observed on 24 October 2025.
