Bury Park Red Zone Proposal Sparks Community Concerns at High-Level Meeting in Luton

London, (Shahzad Ali) __ A meeting was held at Jamia Ghousia to address concerns regarding the Council’s proposed consultation for a Red Route in the Bury Park area. This initiative aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enforce traffic regulations through the use of CCTV.

Bury Park is a vibrant, multicultural neighborhood that hosts a variety of businesses, faith organizations, and substantial through traffic.

The meeting was attended by Luton Council Leader Hazel Simmons, Deputy Council Leader Councillor Javed Hussain, Mark Fowler, Chief Executive of Luton Borough Council, and key community stakeholders. Local business leaders expressed their concerns that the proposed Red Route could negatively impact the Bury Park area.

Council representatives announced that a six-week consultation period would take place in August, allowing all stakeholders to voice their opinions and propose suggestions that could benefit this lively community.

Council Leader Hazel Simmons positively responded to the concerns raised, assuring attendees that no final decision would be made without community engagement and formal consultation.

Prominent figures in attendance included Allama Qazi Abdul Aziz Chishti MBE, a senior leader of the Luton Islamic Cultural Society, Haji Choudhry Mohammad Qurban, former Luton mayors Riaz Butt and Tahir Malik, Professor Mumtaz Butt, brothet Riaz Zaman, Mr Nisar and other local leaders and business owners.

The meeting was well-received, providing a platform for discussions and constructive conversations.
