STOCKHOLM, (TW News) — On the completion of his diplomatic tenure in Sweden, the Ambassador of Pakistan, Bilal Hayee, hosted a special farewell meeting at the Embassy of Pakistan in Stockholm, specifically inviting prominent Swedish-Pakistani social figure Zubair Hussain.
During the meeting, Ambassador Bilal Hayee commended Zubair Hussain for his selfless service to the Pakistani diaspora, his dedicated efforts in presenting a positive image of Pakistan, and his constant support in addressing community challenges. In recognition of his continuous contributions, the Ambassador presented him with an official Certificate of Appreciation from the Embassy.
The detailed sit-down encompassed a thorough discussion on community welfare, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic collaboration over recent years. Highlighting a key milestone, Zubair Hussain noted that it was unprecedented in the embassy’s history for an official mobile consular camp to be organized in Malmö, far from the capital. This initiative delivered crucial consular services—such as passport and identity document processing—directly to hundreds of community members residing in southern Sweden. Acknowledging the impact of this effort, Ambassador Hayee assured that he would personally recommend to the incoming ambassador that consular camps in Malmö continue regularly in the future.

The discussion also focused on enhancing advocacy for the Kashmir cause within Swedish institutions through the formal establishment and legal recognition of “Kashmir Council Sweden.” Zubair Hussain shared that he persuaded the leadership of Kashmir Council Sweden on the necessity of officially registering the organization under Swedish law. To realize this, he took the lead in drafting the necessary legal documentation, including the council’s founding constitution and charter. By guiding the executive board through the compliance process, he ensured the successful completion of its official registration. The primary objective of this legal standing is to enable direct, structured access to Swedish parliamentary bodies and policymakers, allowing the council to engage professionally and formally with Swedish human rights organizations.
Speaking on the role of the younger generation, Zubair Hussain informed the Ambassador that Pakistani youth in Sweden are becoming increasingly active in presenting Pakistani culture, heritage, and positive community values to broader Swedish society.
The farewell session concluded with a detailed discussion on complex migration and integration issues facing the diaspora in Sweden, reaffirming a shared commitment to continue working through administrative and diplomatic channels to support community rights and welfare.
