Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, visited the European Parliament yesterday, where he met with Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Ondřej Dostál.
During the meeting, Dr. Malik presented Pakistan’s perspective on the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), emphasizing the importance of upholding international agreements and safeguarding water resources for millions of people who depend on them.
The Minister urged the European Union to play a constructive role in ensuring respect for the Treaty in light of what Pakistan considers India’s unilateral and unlawful violations. He called on the EU to adopt a principled and balanced position in support of international law, regional stability, and sustainable water governance.
Dr. Malik reiterated that the protection of international treaties is fundamental to global peace and stability. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working with its international partners to ensure that water serves as a bridge for cooperation rather than a source of conflict.
