Brussels, (Special Correspondent) – European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has expressed strong support for Pope Leo and formally invited him to visit and address the European Parliament. Her statement came in response to criticism from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who accused the head of the Catholic Church of promoting an anti-war narrative.

Metsola stated that the Pope is not only the shepherd of the Roman Catholic faithful worldwide but also a symbol of moral courage and clarity at a time when such guidance is increasingly needed. She emphasized that his voice is heard, appreciated, and respected by people of all faiths, both in Europe and beyond.

She further confirmed that, on behalf of the European Parliament, outreach has been made to the Holy See to extend an official invitation for the Holy Father to address an upcoming plenary session. Metsola expressed hope that Pope Leo would accept the invitation in the near future, allowing Europe to hear his message.
