Washington/Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – Renowned American economist and international affairs analyst Jeffrey Sachs has stated that India needs to adopt a clearer, more independent, and decisive foreign policy. According to him, as a major power, India should play a careful and balanced role in global conflicts rather than aligning itself with any particular bloc.
In his recent analysis, he emphasized that in the context of the Middle East situation, India should avoid unconditional support for Israel and refrain from becoming part of alliances led by the United States. Instead, it should pursue an independent and neutral foreign policy.

Professor Sachs noted that in the recent US–Iran tensions, Pakistan played a significant and effective diplomatic role in achieving a ceasefire. He added that this development was neither facilitated by New Delhi nor through the platform of BRICS.
He further stressed that as a responsible global power, India must go beyond regional influence and actively contribute to peacebuilding and conflict resolution on the international stage.
Analysts believe that this statement comes at a time when diplomatic activities in the region are intensifying, and the role of major powers is increasingly under global scrutiny.
