On April 10th in Karachi, the first two reefer TIR transport movements were successfully inaugurated—marking the beginning of a new chapter in cross-border logistics via Gabbd/Rimdan (Iran).
This development represents a landmark step in operationalizing the TIR system through Gabbd, strategically located near Gwadar. It reflects growing momentum toward diversifying Pakistan’s transit corridors and strengthening regional connectivity.
The successful launch of reefer-based TIR movements is particularly encouraging, opening new avenues for temperature-controlled exports and enhancing Pakistan’s competitiveness in perishable goods trade.
It is hoped that this initial movement will pave the way for sustained transit flows through the Gabbd Border Crossing Point (BCP), further unlocking Gwadar’s potential as a key trade and logistics hub and reinforcing its strategic importance in regional trade integration.
The Trade Facilitation Network (TFN) congratulates all stakeholders contributing to this important initiative. Continued public-private collaboration will be essential to transform this route into a viable, efficient, and competitive transit corridor.
