Brussels, (Unib Rashid) — Chairman of Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed, has strongly condemned the sentencing of Kashmiri woman leader and head of the organization “Dukhtaran-e-Millat,” Asiya Andrabi, to life imprisonment by a Delhi court, along with 30-year prison sentences handed to her two associates, Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen.
In a statement, the Chairman termed these sentences as Indian state terrorism and rejected them outright.
Ali Raza Syed said that this decision represents a miscarriage of justice and reflects the continued violation of fundamental human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He added that this oppressive action is part of a broader pattern aimed at silencing the voices of the Kashmiri people.
He urged international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of what he described as unjust sentences handed to Kashmiri women in false cases. He further stated that India has imposed draconian laws in the occupied region and is using such tactics to suppress the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people, particularly their right to self-determination.
He also pointed out that many political leaders and human rights activists, including Yasin Malik and Khurram Parvez, are currently imprisoned in Indian jails, and called for urgent international efforts to secure their release.
The Chairman emphasized that the Kashmiri people are steadfastly continuing their struggle for the right to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and that this movement cannot be crushed through oppression and brutality.
He called upon the international community to support the legitimate and lawful struggle of the Kashmiri people and to play an active role in achieving a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.
