Luton, (Special Correspondent) __ Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban, Coordinator of the Kashmir Solidarity Campaign Luton, has said that Pakistan remains the only natural, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people. The Kashmir issue is not merely a regional dispute but a fundamental question of peace, justice and human rights in South Asia. However, he noted with regret that Pakistan’s prolonged internal political instability has seriously undermined sustained focus, continuity and effective diplomacy on this vital national and international issue.
He said that Pakistan urgently needs to overcome its internal political tensions, institutional confrontations and economic uncertainty, and place the country on a stable, united and peaceful path. Until Pakistan achieves internal strength and stability, it will not be able to project the Kashmir issue internationally with the effectiveness that the situation demands.
Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban stated that Kashmir has long been subjected to Indian occupation, grave human rights violations, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and systematic attempts to alter its demographic composition. At such a critical time, the Kashmiri people look towards Pakistan with hope. Unfortunately, he added, Pakistan’s internal political conflicts, protest politics and power struggles have diverted national attention away from core national priorities.
He emphasised that a strong and credible Kashmir policy is impossible without a stable Pakistan. Political stability, he said, is the foundation upon which a strong economy, an effective foreign policy and proactive diplomacy can be built. If Pakistan directs its energies towards national interest rather than internal confrontation, it can not only raise the Kashmir issue more effectively at international forums but also strengthen the confidence of the Kashmiri people.
He further said that all political parties, state institutions and national leadership in Pakistan must rise above personal and party interests and demonstrate national unity. While disagreement is a healthy feature of democracy, when it turns into division and chaos, national objectives are weakened. On a sensitive and long-standing issue such as Kashmir, national consensus is the most urgent need of the time.
Haji Chaudhry Muhammad Qurban said that Kashmir Solidarity Campaign Luton wishes to convey a clear message that the struggle for the freedom of Kashmir requires strong diplomatic backing, which is only possible if Pakistan is politically stable, economically strong and institutionally coordinated.
He concluded by saying that Kashmir needs more than slogans, resolutions and symbolic statements; it requires a serious, consistent and effective state policy. Such a policy can only succeed if Pakistan emerges from its internal crises and moves firmly towards stability.
In conclusion, he said that Kashmir needs a stable Pakistan — a Pakistan that is united, confident and capable of being a strong voice for the Kashmiri people at the global level. This, he said, remains both the hope of the Kashmiris and a shared responsibility.
