Luton, (Our Correspondent) __ Leader of the Conservative Group in Luton Councillor Raja Mohammad Aslam has stated that the latest budget offers little reassurance to families and businesses in towns such as Luton. Instead of providing genuine economic relief, Labour has opted to increase taxes, expand public expenditure without transparency, and implement policies that will place additional pressure on local councils already confronting significant financial challenges.
He emphasised that this budget lacks a credible plan for economic growth, investment, or long- term stability. Small and medium- sized enterprises—crucial to Luton’ s economy—have once again been overlooked, while hardworking households continue to face rising living costs with minimal governmental support. He has stated that as the leader of the Conservative Group in Luton, he firmly believes in responsible fiscal management, lower taxation, and empowering local authorities to deliver efficient and high- quality services. Regrettably, this budget appears to steer the nation in the opposite direction.
“We will continue to advocate for the residents of Luton and persist in promoting policies that foster economic growth, safeguard taxpayers, and ensure genuine value for money.”
Councillor Raja Mohammad Aslam Khan highlighted that the Labour Party came into power with promises not to raise taxes; however, they immediately increased National Insurance and corporation taxes.
They also claimed there was no black hole in their budget, yet they are now proposing to tax £ 26 billion, adversely affecting businesses, hardworking families, and pensioners who spent their life time serving this country and now deserve to live in dignity. It is disheartening to witness thousands of businesses leaving the UK due to Labour’ s economic policies.
Additionally, measures such as stamp duty and inheritance tax hinder hardworking families from passing on wealth to the next generation, thereby impeding their prospects for a better future. The Conservative Party stands for supporting businesses and providing opportunities for advancement, unlike Labour, which is perceived as a party that pushes individuals down the ladder through excessive handouts.
