Brusselss, (Unib Rashid) – A social media post attributed to British author and former diplomat Craig Murray has drawn attention to a stark comparison between reported child deaths in the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

According to figures cited in the post, children accounted for approximately 0.3 percent of reported deaths in the Ukrainian conflict, compared with 37.7 percent in Gaza.

The post argues that the significant disparity in the reported proportions highlights a fundamental difference in the nature and impact of the two conflicts. It concludes that the figures demonstrate, in the author’s view, a distinction between conventional warfare and what he describes as “genocide.”

The comparison has circulated widely online and is likely to fuel further debate over civilian casualties, the protection of children during armed conflicts and the international response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
