Former Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Croo nominated to head the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Brussels, (Unib Rashid) __ Former Belgian prime minister Alexander De Croo will become the head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to Belgian news agency “Belga”,

UN secretary-general António Guterres has proposed De Croo for the top post. His appointment still requires formal approval by the UNDP board and a subsequent vote in the UN General Assembly.

“For the appointment procedure, we refer, as is proper, to the UN Secretary-General,” said De Croo’s spokesperson.Meanwhile Open VLD chairman Frédéric De Gucht was quick to congratulate his party colleague.

“Immensely proud that a Belgian liberal is taking on the third-highest position at the UN. A wonderful recognition of your dedication, vision, and leadership. You were important to our country, and now you will be important to the world,”
