Birmingham, (Special Correspondent) – A significant gathering was organized by Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK in Birmingham to pay homage to the life, legacy, and enduring struggle of the esteemed Syed Ali Geelani, a prominent figure in the Kashmiri resistance movement. The conference attracted a diverse attendance, including British Kashmiris, members of the Pakistani diaspora, community leaders, and activists who collectively honored Geelani Sahib for his steadfast commitment to the Kashmir cause.

Dr. Khalid Mehmood, the former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami AJK & GB, was the chief guest of the event, while Fahim Kayani, President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, presided over the proceedings.

A range of distinguished speakers, such as Muhammad Ghalib (President TeK Europe), Mufti Majeed Nadeem (Vice President TeK UK), former Lord Mayor Ghazanfar Khaliq, and other notable figures, characterized Syed Ali Geelani as a remarkable political leader, a devoted advocate for Pakistan, and a symbol of the Kashmiri aspiration for self-determination in the face of longstanding challenges.

The speakers reflected on Geelani’s unwavering dedication to his principles, highlighting that even through decades of confinement and adversity, he never wavered in his commitment to the call for self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They emphasized his resolute stance against any resolution that did not encompass complete freedom, noting that his powerful slogan, “Hum Pakistani hain, Pakistan hamara hai,” continues to resonate with Kashmiris globally.

The conference also emphasized the pivotal role of the diaspora in advancing Geelani’s mission by advocating for Kashmir on international platforms, engaging with policymakers, and raising awareness regarding ongoing human rights concerns in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

As the event concluded, the leadership of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK reiterated their commitment to stand in solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their quest for justice and self-determination, echoing Geelani’s lifelong dedication to these ideals.
