Birmingham (Syeda Kauzar) A seminar on “Responsibilities and Challenges of Pakistani Journalism” was organized by the Pakistan Press Club Literary and Cultural Forum at a local venue in Birmingham. The event saw significant participation from eminent personalities associated with journalism, academia, columnists, and other professionals from Pakistan, India, and the UK, engaging in discussions on key issues. President of the Pakistan Press Club UK, Mr. Afzal Butt, served as the special guest, while Mr. Arshad Rachyal, President of the Pakistan Press Club UK, chaired the seminar.
Emphasizing on unity and consensus while acknowledging personal differences, the seminar aimed to demonstrate solidarity. With the growing Asian community in the UK, efforts were made to promote Asian culture and Urdu journalism, marking the establishment of the Literary and Cultural Forum within the Pakistan Press Club UK. Renowned senior Kashmiri journalist, Sajid Yousuf, was appointed as its first chairman. Mr. Sajid Yousuf, Chairman of the Pakistan Press Club Literary and Cultural Forum, inaugurated the seminar on the topic of ‘Responsibilities and Challenges of Pakistani Journalism’.
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic reception in line with Pakistani culture. The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a recitation of the Prophet’s poetry. Mr. Sajid Yousuf, Chairman of the Literary and Cultural Forum, efficiently managed the proceedings as the stage secretary.
During the seminar, various prominent figures including President of PFUJ, Afzal Butt; President of PPC UK, Arshad Rachyal; senior journalist Zahoor Niazi; renowned analyst Mazhar Abbas; investigative journalist Naseer Zaidi; Yaquub Nizami from Bradford; columnist Sajjad Azhar; writer Shabir Ahmed Shah; and senior journalist Syed Aamir Mehdi discussed issues and solutions concerning journalists. They emphasized on expressing views on important topics such as ‘Responsibilities and Challenges of Pakistani Journalism’, urging Pakistani journalists worldwide to voice the injustices in Pakistan, Kashmir, and India, while fostering impartial journalism and supporting oppressed journalists globally.
Special guests from London included senior journalists Zahoor Niazi, Mir Syed Akram, and well known poetess Syeda Kauzar.
Journalists, poets, and Urdu literature enthusiasts from various cities in the UK appreciated the splendid organization of the event by thanking Chairman of Pakistan Press Club Literary and Cultural Forum, Sajid Yousuf; Sajjad Marza, Secretary-General of Pakistan Press Club Midlands; and Aabid Kazmi, Secretary-General of Pakistan Press Club Midlands, for organizing a remarkable seminar within a week, infusing new spirit among individuals connected with Urdu literature throughout the UK.
At the end of the ceremony, prayers were offered for the elevation of the ranks and forgiveness of the founder president of Pakistan Press Club, late Mubeen Chaudhry, and late writer Farooq Saghar.
