Protest Outside Iranian Embassy in London Leaves Four Hospitalised, Several Arrested.

London, (Zahid Anwar Mirza) — Four people were taken to hospital and several others arrested following a protest outside the Iranian Embassy in London, police have confirmed.

According to the Metropolitan Police, during the demonstration one protester climbed onto the embassy roof via its balconies and removed the Iranian flag. The individual was subsequently detained by police.

Police said officers were targeted with thrown objects during the protest, resulting in injuries to some officers. However, the London Ambulance Service did not confirm whether those taken to hospital were police officers or demonstrators.

The man who removed the flag has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, trespassing on diplomatic premises, and assaulting a police officer. Additional arrests were made on suspicion of violent disorder. Authorities also enforced a Section 35 dispersal order outside the embassy to prevent further unrest.

The London Ambulance Service stated it received reports of the incident at approximately 8:45pm at the junction of Exhibition Road and Kensington Road. Four individuals were transported to hospital, while two others were treated at the scene.

Protests outside the Iranian Embassy in London have continued in response to the deaths of thousands of demonstrators during anti-government protests in Iran. Earlier this week, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the UK Foreign Office over the killing of protesters in Iran.
