Pro-Palestinian Protesters Stage Die-In Outside Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

BILBAO, Spain, (TW NEWS) – Pro-Palestinian protesters staged a symbolic “die-in” outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, to denounce Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and draw attention to the continuing humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians.

Demonstrators lay motionless on the ground in front of the prominent museum, using the protest to symbolise the loss of civilian life and the suffering caused by the conflict.

The action formed part of wider demonstrations in Spain and across Europe in support of Palestinians. Protesters have increasingly used public spaces and cultural landmarks to call for an end to the violence in Gaza and demand greater international action to protect civilians.

The demonstrators in Bilbao sought to make the humanitarian consequences of the Gaza conflict visible to the public by staging the protest at one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.

The protest also reflected growing calls from civil society groups for accountability over alleged violations of international humanitarian law and for stronger international efforts to secure an end to hostilities.

The Gaza war has generated widespread international concern over civilian casualties, displacement and access to food, water, medical care and other essential supplies. Humanitarian organisations have repeatedly warned of the severe conditions facing Palestinians in the territory.

The Bilbao demonstration added to a growing wave of pro-Palestinian mobilisation across European cities, where activists have organised marches, sit-ins and other forms of peaceful protest to demand an end to the bloodshed and greater protection for Palestinian civilians.

The symbolic “die-in” outside the Guggenheim Museum was intended to turn a major public and cultural space into a visual reminder of the human cost of the conflict and to keep international attention focused on the situation in Gaza.
