September 9, 2024 (TW) __The preparations are all underway for a peaceful protest to be held at the UN headquarter in New York during the intervention of Indian delegate to the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The Indian delegate will be addressing the UNGA on Saturday, September 28 at 5.00 p.m. To tell the truth is a beautiful and the most appreciable action. The question arises: Does the Indian delegate have the courage to face with the truth during his speech to the world body. And the truth is that Kashmir is at the brink of genocide; Kashmir has become the hell for its people; India has stationed more than 900,000 of its military and paramilitary forces in the Valley of Kashmir, one for every eight adult Kashmiris: News media in Kashmir is at the brink of extinction; There are more than 12,000 half widows in Kashmir. They are half widows because they do not know whether their husbands are dead or alive.
India’s illegal and unliteral action of August 5, 2019, has brought the nation of Kashmir to the brink of destruction, devastation and depredation. At the same time the unconcern of the U.S. Administration is a most discouraging factor and an impediment in resolving the Kashmir dispute. As Americans, we believe that when the Administration refuses to play an active role itself and lets the U. N. remain passive, then all hopes of peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute are extinguished.
A preparatory meeting in this regard was Arranged by ‘World Kashmir Awareness Forum’ in Springfield, Virginia to review the plan for the protest.
The participants of the meeting felt that Kashmiris have not only a right, but also a moral responsibility to call out Indian delegate for shamelessly showing up and speaking at the 79the session of United Nations General Assembly in New York on behalf of India even as his nation continues to brutally occupy the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir for the last 77 years. If that wasn’t enough, Indian government abruptly abrogated the laws enshrining the limited autonomy of the state on August 5, 2019. The so-called civilized western world is mum, beholden only to its economic market economy for which mammoth population of India is an ever-hungry market.
The following decisions were taken during the preparatory meeting:
1. Each and every one of us will persuade at least 10 persons to join us to go to New York.
2. Each and every one should try to bring his family along
3. The buses will leave from Brookfield Plaza, Springfield, Virginia on Saturday, September 28 at 11.00 a.m.
4. We must make sure that at least three buses go from Washington to New York.
5. All Imams of Masajid should be requested to make an announcement.
6. It was agreed upon that Sardar Shoaib Irshad will be coordinator. All those interested must contact him.
7. This group should meet in near future to chalk out a tangible strategy to pursue the Kashmir cause in America. All other like-minded persons, irrespective of the party affiliations should also be invited to that meeting.
