Brussels, (Unib Rashid) – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, during which both leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and ongoing peace efforts.
According to official sources, the conversation lasted over an hour and focused on the escalating hostilities in the region. The Prime Minister strongly condemned the continued Israeli attacks on Iran, including the latest strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Iran during these challenging times.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of more than 1,900 lives, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and displaced.
During the call, the Prime Minister apprised President Pezeshkian of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach, involving Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. These efforts, he noted, are aimed at engaging the United States, as well as brotherly Gulf and Islamic countries, to help create a conducive environment for peace negotiations.
He further highlighted the strong international support for Pakistan’s peace initiative and expressed hope that collective efforts would pave the way for a viable resolution to the ongoing hostilities.
President Pezeshkian appreciated the Prime Minister’s sincere diplomatic initiatives and shared Iran’s perspective on the situation, particularly regarding Israeli actions. He underscored the importance of trust-building measures to facilitate dialogue and mediation, while commending Pakistan’s constructive and supportive role in promoting peace.
The Prime Minister thanked the Iranian President and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its constructive engagement aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region.
