Pakistan Rejects Disinformation Following Border Incident; Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Stability.

Brussels / Islamabad,27 Feb 2026 (Unib Rashid) — Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has stated that the Afghan Taliban authorities have resorted to propaganda and misinformation following what he described as operational setbacks during recent developments along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.

In a news statement issued in Islamabad and reported by Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the Minister rejected narratives circulating on social media, including those amplified by certain Indian accounts, describing them as unfounded and disconnected from ground realities. He said such claims were aimed at diverting attention from developments on the ground and creating a misleading international perception.

The Minister termed the recent actions along the border as “unprovoked” and a serious miscalculation, adding that Pakistan’s security forces responded in a measured and effective manner to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to confirmed information cited in the statement, Pakistan’s Armed Forces inflicted significant losses on armed operatives involved in the incident.

Mr. Tarar also confirmed that two soldiers of the Pakistan Army lost their lives in the line of duty while defending the country, and three others sustained injuries. He paid tribute to the personnel for their sacrifice and professionalism.

The statement further noted that Pakistan had recently carried out successful counter-terrorism operations against militant elements referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” accused of carrying out attacks against civilians in Pakistan. The Minister alleged that firing incidents originating from across the border in support of these elements raise serious concerns and, in Pakistan’s view, point to continued tolerance of terrorist actors targeting Pakistan.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the Minister emphasized that the country remains committed to defending its territorial integrity while acting responsibly to maintain regional peace and stability. He urged restraint and called for lessons to be drawn from past regional conflicts, stressing that provocative actions risk undermining broader security in the region.

Pakistan’s armed forces, he added, remain fully prepared to respond to any aggression while continuing efforts aimed at ensuring peace, stability, and security along the border.
