London, (Shahzad Ali) __ The Pakistan High Commission in London recently hosted a significant Convention for Pakistan-origin British Councilors, bringing together delegates from across the UK. This event showcased the diverse representation from political parties spanning Greater London to regions like the Midlands, Manchester, Bradford, Birmingham, and Glasgow.
With participation from over 200 Councilors, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, and Council Leaders, the attendees praised High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal for his initiative in uniting community leaders at the grassroots level, fostering valuable connections among colleagues and peers.

Key figures such as Mr. Liaqat Ali MBE (Chairman, UK-Pakistan Kashmiri Councillors Forum), Mr. Zafran Khan (Nottingham Council Sheriff), and other notable delegates took the stage to share insights and experiences, highlighting the importance of community engagement.
During his address, the High Commissioner recognized British-Pakistani leaders as “cultural ambassadors,” noting their embodiment of Pakistan’s values: hard work, resilience, and compassion. He emphasized their essential role in strengthening democracy, promoting multiculturalism, and acting as a vital link between the UK and Pakistan. Additionally, he underscored the need to project the achievements of British-Pakistani women, who are making significant contributions across various fields.
“The strength of our nation abroad is exemplified through the dignity, unity, and contributions of our diaspora,” he remarked. “When you rise, Pakistan rises with you.” Addressing challenges head-on, the High Commissioner condemned the stigmatization of the Pakistani community that arises from isolated incidents. He urged leaders to actively counter negative stereotypes by amplifying the success stories that abound in education, business, healthcare, and public service.

He called upon the community to invest in empowering women and youth, preserving cultural heritage, and exploring the myriad opportunities available in Pakistan’s burgeoning economy. “Pakistan is brimming with opportunities—we invite our diaspora to partner in its progress,” he stated.
In closing, the High Commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the High Commission to support the community through enhanced consular services, bilateral engagement, and advocacy. The event concluded with a strong call to action: “Let us rise united, proud, and forward-looking, presenting Pakistan to the world as a nation of strength, talent, and dignity.”
