Vienna, (Muhammad Amir Siddique) – His Excellency Ambassador of Pakistan Mohammad Kamran Akthar attended a handover ceremony for the Chinese Chang’e-6 Lunar Sample to the United Nations, organized by the Permanent Mission of China to the UN in Vienna.

The Ambassador Pakistan congratulated China on this remarkable scientific achievement and stated that this success is owned by all humanity.

His Excellency Ambassador highlighted that Pakistan and China are close partners in outer space exploration and the partnership has grown into areas such as remote sensing, disaster management, agriculture, water resource assessment, and deep-space lunar exploration.

Ambassador stated that in 2023, Pakistan joined the ILRS programme as early partner and sent ICUBE-QAMAR CubeSat, aboard Chang’e-6, capturing images of the lunar surface .

This was Pakistan’s first deep-space mission, and undertook the cooperation of China. Further highlighted that space science’s benefits must reach the developing world too, not just a few spacefaring states and handover of the Chang’e-6 samples to the United Nations is itself an embodiment of the principle of global community of shared future.
