India’s belligerent policies biggest impediment to peace in SA
Srinagar/Brussels (Unib Rashid) – The Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has paid tributes to Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal on the occasion of their martyrdom anniversaries.
In a statement issued here today, the JKNF spokesman advocate Muhammad Haseeb Wani said that the two leaders made significant contributions towards highlighting the aspirations and political rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Recalling the sacrifices of the martyrs, Wani stated that the people of Kashmir hold in high regard the sacrifices rendered over the years by Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the noble cause of freedom.
He reiterated the people’s commitment to pursuing a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also urged the international community to play an effective role in addressing the longstanding dispute and ensuring the realization of the people’s right to self-determination through peaceful and democratic means.
Reacting to recent statements emanating from different quarters within India regarding the resumption of dialogue with Pakistan,the spokesman said that durable peace and long-term stability in South Asia are intrinsically linked to the peaceful resolution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute.
Stressing the need for meaningful engagement and sustained dialogue between India and Pakistan, he said that continued rigidity and confrontational policies on the part of Indian rulers have remained major obstacles to peace and reconciliation in the region.
He maintained that a genuine dialogue process and concerns relating to human rights and civil liberties in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir cannot be addressed in isolation.
Stressing the need for a constructive approach, the spokesman said that New Delhi should move away from what he described as majoritarian and coercive policies in the region and create an atmosphere conducive to dialogue.
He added that durable peace can only be achieved through inclusive negotiations involving all relevant stakeholders and by addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people through peaceful and democratic means.
