London, (Shahzad Ali) __ During his official visit to the United Kingdom, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, held a constructive meeting with Lord Wajid Khan. The meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal.
The discussions centered on strategies to enhance bilateral trade, investment, and mutual economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UK. Minister Jam Kamal emphasized the significant contribution of the 1.7 million-strong British-Pakistani diaspora in strengthening socio-economic ties between the two nations.
A major focus was the proposed establishment of the Pakistan–UK Business Advisory Council, aimed at harnessing the skills and expertise of overseas Pakistanis to stimulate trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan.
Both parties explored opportunities for technical cooperation in areas such as urban development, affordable housing, and smart city initiatives. They recognized the value of forging collaborative partnerships between Pakistani municipal authorities and local councils in the UK.
In a spirit of collaboration, Minister Jam Kamal extended a formal invitation to Lord Wajid Khan to visit Pakistan, providing an opportunity to witness the country’s economic progress and explore potential partnerships directly.
This meeting reflects Pakistan’s strategic approach to economic diplomacy, highlighting the importance of engaging with the overseas Pakistani community to achieve national development goals.
