Luton, (Special Correspondent) __ Raja Aftab, the beloved brother-in-law of former Overseas Commissioner for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Zubair Iqbal Kayani, has sadly passed away in Luton. The late Raja Aftab will be remembered for his warm nature and kind spirit, which touched many in the community.
His funeral prayers were held at Jamia Islamia Ghausia in Luton, with Allama Qazi Abdul Aziz Chishti MBE leading the service. Following the prayers, he was laid to rest at the local cemetery, surrounded by many who valued his life and contributions.
A significant number of community members, dignitaries, and leaders gathered to honour the memory of Raja Aftab. Among the attendees were Lord Qurban Hussain, former Deputy Leader of Luton Council Raja Muhammad Aslam Khan, Allama Hafiz Ejaz Ahmad, Professor Raja Waheed ul Zaman, Mohammad Maqsood Ali Chaudhry, Ch Muhammad Sharif, Lala Ch Muhammad Taj Samroor, Lala Raja Khurshid, Waseem Raja, Raja Yaqoon Khan, alongside academic Jamil Ahmad and numerous former Mayors of Luton, including Riaz Butt, Chaudhry Muhammad Ayub, and Tahir Mahmood’s Malik.
Community activists, such as Raja Asif Khan, Raja Shoukat, and Raja Asad Khan, along with others like Muhammad Fayaz Qureshi, Malik Ghulam Mohiuddin, Shahid Zaman Sarhotvi, Mushtaq Butt, Amjad Malik, and Iftikhar Malik, demonstrated the strength of community bonds by coming to extend their heartfelt condolences.
Many attendees expressed their sympathies to Raja Zubair Iqbal Kayani, his brother Raja Javed Iqbal, and Raja Aftab’s brothers Shahzad Raja and Naushad Raja. This gathering not only reflected the collective support for the bereaved family but also highlighted the enduring legacy of Raja Aftab in the hearts of those who knew him.
